About Theo

I’m Theo, a professional drummer and drum teacher based in Scarborough, with many years of experience performing, studying and teaching drums.

Alongside running TK Drum Tuition, I work as an Instrumental Instructor with North Yorkshire Music Service, teaching drums and percussion to children and young people across the county.

My approach to teaching is friendly, structured and tailored to each student. Lessons combine strong fundamentals, technique, coordination and musical understanding with learning real music, helping students build confidence, make steady progress and, most importantly, enjoy playing the drums.

Technique & Musicality

Technique is the essential foundation that empowers you to play the drums confidently, while musicality enables you to fully express yourself through the instrument. These fundamental skills are central to our approach at TK Drum Tuition. We delve into various techniques, including Moeller and different stroke techniques. Together, we'll explore a diverse range of music genres, fostering a deep appreciation and understanding of the nuanced techniques they employ.

Graded Progression

Music grades provide an excellent means to monitor your progress over time, and here at TK Drum Tuition, we integrate the Rock School syllabus into our curriculum. From Grade 1 to Grade 8 drums, these books emphasise playing with actual songs encompassing a wide range of genres.
